Hinterland

HINTERLAND is a toolkit designed to generate maps of wilderness/frontier settings for TTRPGs.  Format is a single 8.5x11" sheet of paper; trifold pamphlet design.  The mechanics are setting- and system-agnostic; just grab your favourite TTRPG system and some dice, and get rolling.

• Bioclimatic zones: from desert scrub to boreal forest to tropical rainforest, and all points in between.
• Topography:  Build your region with highlands, lowlands, ridges and valleys.
• Landmarks and Features: it's not an empty world-- fill it with hazardous (or lazy) rivers, natural landmarks, villages, ruins, dungeons, and everything else.
• Settlements: towns don't exist in a vacuum; create a network of frontier settlements, complete with road system.
• Seasons and weather: extreme, inclement, and clement.
